Q1: Bone cancer: No non-decalcified bone sample available for Canine CGP analysis

Category: View Frequently Asked Questions

As of October 2025, we have successfully processed multiple decalcified bone tumors and obtained clinically meaningful insights to guide treatment. While the quality may not match that of standard samples and success cannot be guaranteed, these results give us confidence that decalcified specimens can still provide valuable data. Therefore, although non-decalcified bone samples remain preferred, Canine CGP can be attempted when only decalcified samples are available. If the workflow is successful, the standard cost will apply. If we are unable to obtain usable DNA and library to generate data, we’ll know early in the workflow. In that case, we would only charge the actual costs incurred from the service provider. In either case, the pathology lab should choose the best bone block for scroll recut.
